When the confocal microscope is combined with the tandem interferometer a complete lightscattering system is formed. The standard product has a resolution on the sample better than 1 micrometer and can measure features on the sample as small as 4 micrometers across. The microscope can be switched to a lower resolution which is ideal for standard backscattering and surface scattering measurements. Under all conditions the microscope is optimally coupled to the entrance aperture of the interferometer.
